This technical report describes the 24 derived variables developed for users of the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) data. These variables help to simplify the use of the data and provide useful indicators for analysis. They fall into the categories of education, employment and social. Information for the 24 derived variables developed for the 1998, 2003 and 2006 commencing cohorts is presented.

The SAS syntax used to derive these variables is available in accompanying technical documents for each respective cohort.
